Builth Wells in mid Wales is now home to a brand-new EUROSPAR store. The new store was opened by top Welsh hurdler and European gold medallist Dai Greene. Dai was joined by Megan Chessell, winner of a poster competition the store ran with local school, Builth Wells Primary School.

EUROSPAR store manager Michael Grasham said: “We challenged the pupils of the school to design a poster best displaying the components of a healthy lifestyle, and Megan’s poster did just that.”
As an extra, the store donated £250 to both Builth Wells primary and high schools to spend on sports equipment.
The new store is owned by Tates Ltd, which also owns the SPAR store on High Street in Builth Wells. Owen Davies, Regional Manager for Tates, said: “In acquiring this new store, we had to carefully consider what was in the interests of the residents of Builth Wells. We felt that a EUROSPAR would offer the choice and value that the town needs from a supermarket, with all of the great service that residents have come to expect from a Tates-owned store.”
The new store was converted from an old Co-op on the Brecon Road site – and all of the staff from the old store were offered jobs at the EUROSPAR.
