A.F. Blakemore & Son Ltd has gained an Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) Centre approval for the delivery of in-house leadership training.
ILM status will allow the company to design and deliver in-house leadership and management training to grow the capability of colleagues and allow new and aspiring managers to reach their potential.
A.F. Blakemore’s Learning & Development Manager, Melanie Walker said: “Our partnership with ILM will allow the development of bespoke training that incorporates our values, ways of working and embed the leadership style of our business.
“It also provides a nationally recognised professional qualification to our people.
“This is exciting new venture for A.F. Blakemore that will allow us to further embed one of the company’s core values to maximise staff potential.”
Two qualifications will be delivered within the current financial year, the main one being Level 3 Certificate in First Line Management. This is made up of four modules covering Leadership, Change, Management and one optional unit from Innovation, Excellence and Engagement. This will allow the programme to meet the individual needs of the learner and also the requirements of the department.
A number of modules will involve the creation of cross functional teams that will review an area that can offer improved business efficiencies.
Employees who do not want to participate in the year long qualification can select any one of the modules to help fill gaps in skill and develop understanding.
The second qualification is a Level 3 Award in Workplace Coaching, which will develop coaching skills within the management teams and offer an alternative approach to managing people and performance.
