  • 4 pears
  • 32g (1oz) light brown sugar
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 10g (½oz) butter
  • 80ml 2¾fl oz) water

Method

  1. Peel pears (the skin becomes tough if cooked), then cut them in half lengthways and remove the cores. Set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, over a low to medium flame, combine the butter, nutmeg, cinnamon and brown sugar. Drizzle in the water as the butter melts.
  3. When the mixture covers the bottom of the pan, add the pears, cut side down.
  4. Grill until the pears are tender, about 10 minutes. Serve with a little natural yoghurt or creme fraiche.
