Not sure what to do with that leftover cream? Take a look at these...

BerrySyllabubTrifle

  • If the cream is the whipping kind then it’ll make the perfect icing for a trifle, such as our Berry Syllabub Trifle (pictured), or as a filling with some jam in a Victoria sponge.
  • Use it to jazz up everyday snacks. You could use it to make incredibly creamy scrambled eggs, or whip it and have it as a topping – with chocolate sprinkles or a dusting of cocoa powder on top – for hot chocolate.
  • Love coffee? Why not use that cream to make Irish coffee? Make a cup of strong black coffee and add some sugar. Add one measure of whisky and pour a generous amount of double cream on top – then drink!
  • If you have enough cream, you could make some ice cream – we have recipes for Almond Ice Cream and Cinnamon Ice Cream.
  • Adding a little cream to savoury dishes like soups and sauces will add a touch of decadence, a lovely texture and a more subtle flavour. If you have a small carton of single cream, why not try our recipe for Creamy Porcini Pasta?
  • Cream will also make gorgeous, smooth mashed potato. Simply add to the drained, cooked potatoes along with some butter, salt and pepper and some chopped fresh chives, and mash for the perfect accompaniment to meat or fish dishes.
