Sunday lunch wines
These wines are perfect for those long family lunches.
Roast beef
Choose SPAR La Catedral Rioja. Made exclusively for us by Bodegas Ondarre in Rioja, this wine has all the classic raspberry and vanilla flavours you would expect from a young Rioja. Predominantly made from the Tempranillo grape, with a little of the traditional Garnacha, it has intense red berry and spice notes.
Roast chicken
Choose SPAR Italian Pinot Grigio. The best Pinot Grigios are found in the north of Italy in the Veneto region, and we sourced this one from the Delibori family. Full of soft perfumed and spicy aromas, it is light and fresh on the palate, with hints of blossom and nuts.

SPAR Chilean Merlot
This is an everyday treat, full of brambly spice and soft plummy Merlot fruit. Chile is particularly suited to the Merlot grape, producing soft, rich ripe wines with smooth tannins and plenty of dark fruit flavours. Perfect with tomato-based pasta dishes and spicy sausages.
SPAR South African Reserve Chenin Blanc
South Africa produces some stunning wines, and particularly from the Chenin Blanc grape. This wine is packed full of grapefruit and fruit-salad flavours, fresh and crisp, with hints of tropical fruits. Ideal with fishcakes or fish pie.

SPAR Cava Rosada NV
What could be nicer than a chilled glass of pink bubbles? Our Rosada Cava is made from the traditional grapes including Garnacha and Monastrell in the Penedes region of north-eastern Spain. The red grapes give the lovely light rose colour, and it is bright with fresh strawberry fruit on the palate. Great for an impromptu celebration.
SPAR Castellani Chianti Riserva
This is a deep, rich red with classic Chianti flavours of Morello cherry, redcurrant and forest fruits. An extra length of ageing in barrel makes this a ‘Riserva’ and this adds a spicy, complex, long finish. Typical of Chianti, it has some fresh acidity and a touch of tannin, making it a perfect partner to steak, red meats and Italian dishes using plenty of olive oil.
