Probably best remembered for his portrayal of Pete Gifford in Cold Feet, for which he was nominated Best Actor at the Comedy Awards, John has enjoyed 20 years of success in film, theatre and radio. He’s pretty successful in the kitchen too, and is a big fan of all-in-one dishes.

John has always loved to cook, and usually finds something to laugh at in the kitchen – in this case an oddly shaped piece of ginger raised a giggle... He created this dish, Seared Scallops with Ginger and Spring Onion Vermicelli Noodles, himself and it is his wife’s absolute favourite. He says the scallops are the star so all the other flavours should complement them.

The secret of this dish is the oyster sauce, which brings all the other flavours together. John uses fresh vermicelli rice noodles, though he says that dried are fine if that’s what you have in your cupboard.
