Serhiy Lebid won the senior men’s race for a record ninth time and extended his collection of medals to 12. He is also the only person to have competed in every single SPAR European Cross Country Championships since they were established in 1994.

Also deserving a mention is Italy’s Gabriele De Nard, who on this occasion finished 20th and has now competed for 14 years in the Championships, a figure only bettered by Lebid.
