For Jenny, being asked to support SPAR UK’s athletics sponsorship programme was a thrill, but also a natural fit. SPAR has been a principal sponsor of the European Athletics Association since 1996 and a sponsor of UK Athletics since 2004.
As a UK athlete, Jenny was invited to do an appearance for SPAR and things went from there. She says: “I really enjoyed doing the SPAR appearance. I met some of their retailers and got to understand how SPAR retailers work and they were a really nice bunch.
“Obviously I knew SPAR sponsors UK Athletics so when they asked me if I would like to be their ambassador for sport I was delighted to say yes.
“It might sound odd but in many ways SPAR and me are alike. You could say that I am down to earth! SPAR has been such a big part of athletics for as long as I can remember.
“Having the right food and nutrition is so important for me so SPAR is an ideal partner, and if a big brand is prepared to back me that gives me that added bit of confidence and self belief.
“It is fantastic that SPAR has been supporting athletics for so long and I am very pleased that such a big brand has backed athletics the way they have, and of course I am delighted that they have chosen me to be their ambassador for the sport.”
