Reduce, reuse, recycle
We are taking action to help our planet in a variety of ways. For instance, we are aiming to reduce the use of plastic bags in store by 25%. To help you do this, we are about to introduce reusable plastic bags, all bearing the slogan, ‘Caring for the environment, reduce, reuse or recycle’ . We have also put up posters in our stores to remind you to reuse your plastic bags.

Recycle your batteries at SPAR
Every year in the UK over 600 million of us throw used or unused batteries into our rubbish bins. These can end up in landfill sites where many release extremely harmful chemicals, resulting in soil and water pollution that is harmful to us, animals and the environment.
A new European Directive has been introduced to help reduce the environmental impact of batteries, and as a result the UK now has new responsibilities regarding how batteries are recovered, treated and disposed of.
As part of this ruling, SPAR has introduced battery recycling collection containers in store. Bring your used batteries here and you can be sure they will be safely disposed of, with minimum impact on the environment.
