Making a real difference to the community
SPAR Scotland has awarded a total of £20,000 to three organisations through SPAR’s annual Community Cashback grant scheme. From mental health and disability support to youth development and grassroots sport, the 2025 winners span a wide range of sectors — all deeply rooted in the heart of their communities.
Paula Middleton, Head of Marketing for SPAR Scotland said: "Supporting local communities is at the heart of what SPAR stands for, and this campaign is just one of the many ways we continue to give back. We are incredibly proud of everyone who took the time to nominate a cause that matters to them."
This year’s Scottish grant winners were:
- Scotland Yard Adventure Centre
- Highlands Psychoanalytic Collective
- Later Life Choices Glenrothes Ltd
The top grant of £10,000 was awarded to The Yard Dundee in recognition of its outstanding work supporting disabled children and their families.
The Yard Dundee is a specialist charity creating play opportunities for disabled children and young people. The £10,000 grant was awarded just months ahead of the charity’s new purpose-built premises opening in September, located just five minutes from SPAR Scotland’s Dundee depot.
Megan MacColl The Yard, said:

The Yard’s mission is to bring fun, friendship and a sense of belonging to families who often feel isolated due to a lack of suitable play services for children with disabilities. Its work includes weekday school sessions, after-school clubs, weekend family play and specialist support from trained staff, all designed to help children and their families through play.
Paula Middleton, Head of Marketing at SPAR Scotland, said:
Awarded a grant of £5,000, Later Life Choices Glenrothes delivers essential services to over 170 elderly clients, including home visits, group outings, and a Day Care centre based at Napier House. The charity also supports unpaid carers through regular events and outreach, but many of these activities have faced funding challenges in recent months.
Anna Bernas from Later Life Choices Glenrothes, said:

Since November 2023, the charity had delivered seven carers’ lunches and social events for over 100 unpaid carers, but funding for this programme ended in May. The new SPAR grant will help restore momentum behind this vital work and allow LLCG to continue promoting social connection and wellbeing among vulnerable older residents.
Paula Middleton from SPAR Scotland added:
Awarded £5,000 by SPAR Scotland, the Highlands Psychoanalytic Collective is a new community-led initiative dedicated to promoting psychoanalysis and providing accessible mental health support across the Highlands.
The funding will support their clinical service which offers therapeutic work for young people and adults, alongside events, training, and opportunities for reflection and connection. Rooted in collaboration and creativity, it aims to foster space for psychoanalytic thinking in a region rich in history yet facing deep challenges, including high suicide rates and limited service access.
