Motorsport fans were treated to a high-octane surprise this August as SPAR Bowness welcomed Charles Leclerc’s 2021 Ferrari Formula 1 car, freshly styled in Scuderia Ferrari’s 2025 livery, to its store forecourt — all part of the SPAR Summer of Fun to celebrate the store’s first anniversary.
Thanks to SPAR’s long-standing partnership with Shell UK, the event drew hundreds of racing enthusiasts, including Simon Rigg from Kendal, a lifelong Formula 1 fan. Simon was one of many visitors who came to see the iconic Ferrari up close - a rare and unforgettable moment for fans of the sport. Simon said:
Simon also won a bundle of official Scuderia Ferrari F1 merchandise, including a T-shirt, cap, umbrella, and water bottle, which he collected from SPAR Bowness team member Sharon Morton.
The event was a highlight of SPAR Bowness’ community-focused Summer of Fun, designed to bring excitement and engagement to the local area. From giveaways to exclusive displays, the store continues to deliver memorable experiences for customers across the Lake District.
Simon added: “While I have a soft spot for McLaren, I am a big Ferrari fan, and these cars are works of art as well as racing cars. The love affair with motorsport really starts with my parents. My dad went to the first British Grand Prix held at Silverstone, and my parents used to go to the Monaco Grand Prix every year for many years. That started in 1968, the year I was born, so I have gone through life with F1 and motorsport as being a part of it.
“I have been to several Grands Prix myself over the years and you really cannot beat an F1 weekend – the speed, the noise, sensational driving, and often, in Britain at least, changeable weather that makes the racing that bit more exciting.”
