Tomato salsa with tortilla chips

This simple tomato salsa recipe combines tinned chopped tomatoes with finely chopped onion, garlic and a touch of fresh chilli for a little kick. Fresh tomato salsa can take a long time to prepare as you’ve got to finely dice your tomatoes. But this version is quick to make and has a slightly softer texture that’s perfect for dipping or using as a topping.

Whether you’re hosting friends for a barbecue or looking for a light snack to enjoy in the evening, this tomato salsa with tortilla chips is a fantastic shortcut that’s packed with flavour without the extra prep time.

What you'll need:

Method:

  1. Pour the chopped tomatoes into a bowl and use a fork or a knife to break up the tomatoes. 
  2. Finely chop the onion and mince the garlic and chilli. Add these ingredients to the bowl too.
  3. Stir in the lime juice, olive oil and salt and pepper. 
  4. Mix everything well and add more seasoning if needed. 
  5. Pour your salsa into a bowl and serve with some tortilla chips.
  6. Chop the fresh coriander and sprinkle over the top.
