Can you feel it? That slowly building excitement? Those vivid flashes of warm laughter with friends, family, and colleagues? That sense of free-spiritedness, as you finally unwind? Us too! And it can mean only one thing…

Party season is upon us! And not a moment too soon. And while other cocktail families (we’re looking at you, vodka), often take the cocktail crown, we’d like to submit an alternative in the form of gin cocktails.

Gin Cocktails: A Family of Icons

Versatile, satisfying, and iconic; some of the best gin cocktails are party season staples yet are often outshone by their more attention-grabbing siblings.

But with classic gin cocktails like the debonair Tom Collins to stalwart, easy gin cocktails like the gin and tonic, gin needn’t be the overlooked cocktail sibling any longer, especially when our London Gin won Silver in the International Spirits Challenge 2021 & our Rhubarb & Ginger Gin won the BBC Goodfood Drinks Taste Awards 2021. And so, with that in mind, here’s our list of the best gin cocktails for party season.

Gin and Tonic

As we said, stalwart. The matriarch of classic gin cocktails also happens to be the easiest to make.

Requiring only a large glass packed with ice, 50ml of SPAR London Dry Gin, 100ml of tonic water.  Garnish with a slice of lime, and you have a delicious, steadfast, classic gin cocktail that won’t let you down.

Tom Collins

The suave, effortlessly sophisticated sibling of our best gin cocktails list, the Tom Collins is the perfect accompaniment to a smartly attired seasonal cocktail party.

Starting with a base of 50ml SPAR Dry Gin and plenty of ice (served, naturally, in a Collins glass), this classic gin cocktail is then built with 25ml of lemon juice, 25ml of sugar syrup, and 125ml of chilled soda water. An iconic gin cocktail. Pure and simple.

Pink Gin Iced Tea

Requiring a little more work, the Pink Gin Iced Tea is the regal, high-maintenance sibling of classic gin cocktails, but nevertheless fits neatly into our list of easy gin cocktails.

Starting with the brewing of 1 chamomile tea bag, poured into a large jug filled with plenty of ice once brewed, this leisurely gin cocktail is completed by mixing in 100ml of Pink Gin, 100ml of Spiced Rum, 100ml of Elderflower Cordial, and 100ml of Pink Grapefruit Juice. Garnish with sprigs of thyme for one of the best gin cocktails imaginable.

Rhubarb Ginger Gin Martini

A creative twist on a classic gin cocktail, using our award-winning Rhubarb and Ginger Gin, the Rhubarb Ginger Gin Martini is the rebellious, creative sibling of our list; perfect for surprising guests at your seasonal soiree.

Simply mix 50ml of SPAR Rhubarb and Ginger Gin and 15ml of Vermouth into a large martini glass and garnish with a wedge of lemon. It’ll surprise, delight and refresh your guests. (Maybe don’t make too many.)

Mulled Gin

And finally, we round out our list the best gin cocktails with a festive favourite. Mulled Gin is the wise, comforting member of our gin cocktails family, the perfect companion for an evening sat beside a crackling open fire, surrounded by loved ones.

To make this satisfying winter warmer, you’ll need: 100ml SPAR Gin, 400ml SPAR apple juice, ½ a sliced lemon, 1 bay leaf, 4 cloves, 2 lightly crushed cardamom pods, 1 small cinnamon stick, 3 lightly crushed juniper berries, ½ tsp coriander seeds and 1tsp of honey.

From there, Divide up the gin between four small heatproof glasses or mugs. Then, using a saucepan, tip the apple juice along with the rest of the ingredients. Next, gently bring the liquid to a simmer on a low heat for a few minutes and then strain into a jug. Pour the apple juice into glasses with the gin and stir.
