A look back at last year’s Scottish Community Cashback grant winners

As we prepare to launch our 2026 Community Cashback grant scheme, we’ve taken a moment to revisit some of last year’s recipients and explore how the funding has helped them make a meaningful difference in their local communities.

The Yard

The Yard Dundee was Scotland’s top grant recipient, receiving £10,000 in recognition of its exceptional work supporting disabled children and their families.

The Yard Dundee is a specialist charity dedicated to creating safe, inclusive play opportunities for disabled children and young people. The £10,000 grant arrived just months before the charity opens its new purpose‑built premises in September, located only five minutes from SPAR Scotland’s Dundee depot.

"SPAR's Community Cashback enabled us furnish our new centre for disabled children, young people and their families ensuring that every space is equipped with safe, comfortable, and accessible play equipment. This investment has helped create a warm, supportive environment where children can learn, play, and thrive here in Dundee"
Megan MacColl, Fundraising Officer - The Yard
Later Life Choices Glenrothes

Awarded a £5,000 grant, Later Life Choices Glenrothes provides vital support to more than 170 older adults through home visits, group outings, and its Day Care centre at Napier House. The charity also offers regular events and outreach for unpaid carers. However, many of these important activities have faced increasing funding pressures in recent months.

"Thanks to the SPAR Community Cashback, we have been able to develop community connections and support both our clients and their carers. We’ve gone the extra mile by offering events such as Christmas lunch, coffee mornings, and information sessions, along with light exercise, yoga and mindfulness activities enjoyed by everyone involved."
Anna Bernas - Assistant Manager, Later Life Choices Glenrothes

"The funding also enabled us to enhance our Help to Stay at Home community outings, covering costs such as petrol, lunches, and admission fees, and also providing person‑centred gifts like chocolates, flowers, and magazines.

We were able to purchase meaningful activities for our clients – including dementia-friendly jigsaws, craft materials, and games – which have helped to improve their physical and mental well‑being.”
