SPAR launches its second UK wide £100,000 Community Cashback scheme

Due to the success of last year’s £100,000 Community Cashback scheme, leading convenience symbol group SPAR is launching a second £100,000 Community Cashback scheme, giving away thirty grants to local voluntary or community organisations and charities.

Closes 15th of March 2023

Launching on the 1st of February, shoppers from all over the UK can apply for a grant for an organisation or charity they feel deserves funding. All applicants need to do is share the exceptional contribution that a local organisation has made to their community and what the grant would be put towards. Applications will close on the 15th March 2023. Successful candidates will be contacted on 2nd May 2023.

There are grants available, covering all geographical regions across the UK (see list below) and amounts up to £10,000 are available, with a total pool of grants valued at £100,000

  • Scotland (CJ Lang & Son Ltd)
  • Northern Ireland (Henderson Group)
  • South-West England (Appleby Westward Group Limited)
  • North England (James Hall & Co Ltd)
  • Wales, Midlands, South-East and London (A.F. Blakemore & Son Ltd)

The top 100 shortlisted charities will have the chance to be showcased across SPAR social channels and website for a single month – giving the charities valuable exposure and amplifying the Community Cashback campaign.

Suzanne Dover, SPAR UK Brand and Marketing Director, said: “Our 2023 Community Cashback programme gives our SPAR stores a chance to give back to their local community.

“We believe in nurturing our neighbourhoods and supporting the communities we serve, and the Community Cashback scheme is another way we are helping to do this, especially now when deserving local organisations need some extra financial support.

“The SPAR £100,000 Community Cashback scheme will give shoppers across the UK the chance to make their communities better and we look forward to helping the thirty winning causes in the coming months.”

The Community Rescue Service:

“The Community Rescue Service were delighted to be awarded the Community Cashback grant by SPAR. So, this grant ensures that we can expand enormously. This grant means faster service, better service, better-trained searchers, means lives saved.”

Downs Syndrome Social Group:

“We couldn’t do this without SPAR recognising our charity. We couldn’t put on these activities, and also we’re constantly trying to fundraise every penny to keep going. And this money is going to keep us going for quite a long time.”

Northumbria – Blood Bikes:

“Over the last three months that £10,000 paid for all of the fuel for all of the vehicles that we operate. In those three months we delivered across 40 plus locations, we’ve also helped our partners to move urgent samples from one end of the country to the other and we’ve estimated that we have helped around 4,500 people.”
