Everyone hates to waste food, and at SPAR we aim to minimise the amount of food we waste and avoid sending it to landfill. 

We work with our partners throughout the supply chain to ensure that waste is minimised – from food manufacturers, through our distribution centres to our shops and consumers.  We have partnered with Apps such as Gander and Too Good To Go to communicate to shoppers when food is close to its sell by date and ensure it goes to good use and isn’t wasted.

We also work with a number of charities, such as FareShare to ensure that any surplus food goes to those who need it and also make other donations in times of need such as during the Covid-19 pandemic.  Our stores host collection points in store so customers can also make donations to local food banks.
