It’s no secret that we go overboard with chocolate eggs at Easter, so why not mix things up a little this year and use some of those eggs to create a delicious Easter dessert? This brownie-filled Easter egg dessert is an indulgent treat fit for the whole family. A heavenly combination of chocolate brownie and cookies and cream filling to create the ultimate Easter pudding – and it’s also a fun activity to work on with the kids over the bank holiday weekend! Because while this year’s Easter holiday may look a little different, it’s never a bad time for a sweet treat.
It’s time to put your brownie-filled Easter egg together in just three easy steps…
Brownie-Filled Easter Egg Recipe
Step One: Make your Easter Brownies
First things first, you’ll need your brownies. Follow this recipe to make them from scratch:
- 250g unsalted butter
- 360g caster sugar
- 75g cocoa powder
- 4 large eggs
- 75g plain flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 175g dark chocolate
- Preheat the oven to 180°C and line a square baking tin with baking paper.
- Melt the chocolate and sugar together in a large bowl over a pan of hot water.
- Mix together the cocoa powder, flour, sugar and baking powder in a separate bowl.
- Add the dry ingredients into the melted chocolate and mix together.
- Add in the vanilla extract and beat in the eggs until the mixture is smooth.
- Pour the mixture into the tin and bake for around 25-35 minutes – until the outside is firm, but the brownies are still gooey in the middle.
- Once the brownies are cool, add them to a bowl and break them up – putting aside some slightly bigger pieces to use as toppings later on.

Step Two: Prepare your Easter Dessert Filling
Before you start prepping your Easter egg filler, you’ll need to prepare your ‘bowl’ – and all you need is an Easter egg! Simply take your chosen egg, cut it in half and you’re ready to add your filling.
To go with your Easter brownie, you’ll need some cookies and cream filling. To make your own, simply cream together salted butter, cream cheese, vanilla extract and icing sugar (also a delicious addition to our Easter cupcakes). Then, take half of your cream filling and half of the brownie mixture and combine them in a bowl.
Now it’s time to construct your brownie-filled Easter egg dessert! Add even layers of brownie, cream filling and the combined mixture until you fill your Easter egg half.
Not a fan of cookies and cream? Play around with your fillings to create your ultimate filled Easter egg dessert. Try combining your brownie with caramel, crème egg, peanut butter or chocolate mousse – the possibilities are endless!
Step Three: Add your Easter Brownie Toppings
This is where you can really have some fun. Take those brownie pieces you put aside earlier and place a few on the top of your filled Easter egg. Feel free to leave your Easter dessert there, but if you want to take it up a notch try out some of our other fun topping suggestions:
