Honey & Cinnamon Baked Royal Gala Apples

There’s something timeless about baked apple – and this recipe is a celebration of simplicity done right. Gently baked with golden honey, warm cinnamon, and a splash of vanilla, these apples soften into tender slices that are rich with natural sweetness and comforting spice. A drizzle of melted butter adds a touch of indulgence, while a squeeze of lemon keeps the flavours bright and balanced.

The perfect light summer desert, a simple yet delicious way to enjoy Royal Gala apples.

What you'll need:

  • 4 Royal Gala apples, cored and sliced
  • 2 tbsp honey or maple syrup
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice (to keep apples fresh and bright)
  • 2 tbsp butter, melted
  • A handful of chopped walnuts or almonds (optional)
  • Optional: Serve with yogurt, ice cream, or granola

Method:

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F)
  2. Core and slice the apples into wedges
  3. Toss them in a bowl with lemon juice, honey, cinnamon, and vanilla extract
  4. Place the apples in a baking dish, drizzle with melted butter, and sprinkle with nuts (optional)
  5. After 10 minutes give them a quick stir
  6. Roast for a further 10-15 minutes until soft and caramelized
  7. Serve warm with yogurt, ice cream
