Chicken is such a staple ingredient, you're bound to have used it at least once in your cooking. But how many chicken recipes do you know?

To stop your favourite ingredient getting boring, we've come up with three different ways you could use it.


Ultimate Chicken Sandwich

Ingredients (Makes 1 sandwich)

  • 3 rashers streaky bacon
  • 3 slices white bread
  • 2 tbsp mayo
  • 1 tomato, sliced
  • 150g roast chicken, sliced
  • 2 lettuce leaves (round curly, or romaine/cos works well)
  • 2 slice Spar Edam Cheese


  1. Grill your bacon until nice and crispy. Toast your bread and then spread mayo on one piece.
  2. To this piece, add your bacon and tomato and some lettuce and top with another slice of toast. Add more mayo, your chicken, cheese and more lettuce and your final piece of toast.
  3. Slice into triangles to serve. Add a handful of crisps on the side if you’d like!


Baked Greek Chicken with Halloumi and Tomatoes

Ingredients (Serves 4 - 5):

  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tsp sea salt
  • 3x chicken thighs
  • 3x chicken drumsticks
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 small red onion
  • 200g cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 yellow pepper, roughly chopped
  • 1 green pepper, roughly chopped
  • 1 pack halloumi cheese, cubed (can be substituted for bacon)


  1. Preheat the oven to 200c. In a large cast iron skillet or casserole dish, heat the olive oil. Season the chicken pieces with the salt and then in batches, brown on each side until golden brown (around 5-7 minutes).
  2. Add the herbs, onion, tomatoes and pepper to the pan with another splash of oil and mix with the chicken. Top with the halloumi.
  3. Bake for 35 minutes or until the juices from the chicken run clear. Serve with herby couscous with cucumber and avocado


Beer Can Chicken

Ingredients (serves 4-6):

  • 1 x 1.8kg chicken
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 x 300ml can of beer

For the rub:

  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp ground coriander
  • 1 tbsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp dark brown sugar


  1. Smash up all the rub ingredients in a pestle and mortar until thoroughly mixed together. Add a splash of beer and the olive oil to make a paste and then rub all over the chicken.
  2. Pour out a third of the beer from the can and then pop the chicken upright on it. Place on the barbecue or in a roasting dish and either close your barbecue lid and roast for 1 hour 20 mins or roast in the oven at 200c for the same amount of time.
  3. Serve with corn on the cob, baby gen, yoghurt sauce and tomatoes as the side
