Celery Soup

It may not sound like the most inspiring of winter soup recipes but, packed full of heart-healthy vitamin K and a fantastic source of dietary fibre, celery provides health benefits in abundance. Chop up six sticks, along with 200g of potassium-rich potatoes and one cold-fighting garlic clove and pop into a pan for 10 minutes. Add 500ml of vegetable stock and simmer until your celery is soft. Pour in 100ml of creme fraiche, whizz it all up with a hand blender and serve. Crusty bread optional.

Oh, and did we mention celery is one of those negative-calorie foods, which means it actually burns more calories than it contains? All the more reason to grab a spoon and tuck into this warming but oh so simple soup.

Cream of mushroom soup

Grab your best winter pot and throw in some sliced, protein-rich mushrooms. Once those important juices have been released, reduce the heat and simmer for 15 minutes. Chop up a heart-healthy shallot and stir into your mushroom mix with 2 tablespoons of flour, a garlic clove and tasty chicken stock. Then here comes the easy part; leave your soup simmering away for an hour.

Puree your quick and easy soup recipe with a hand blender and stir in a luxurious winter touch - some tasty double cream - before garnishing with mushrooms. As well as being good for your hair and nails, mushrooms also contain vitamin B and a powerful antioxidant called selenium. Helping to support your immune system, this is one of those simple soup recipes that will also help to ward off winter colds. Result.

Simple carrot soup

For a simple soup recipe that will see you through to the first sign of spring, whip up this heavenly bowl of healthy orange goodness.

And that’s it. A super simple soup recipe that is brimming with health benefits to protect you against colds and flu in the harsh winter months.
